OpenSSL Performance Benchmark

Memory Consumption Analysis3 iterations per version
Last run: 2026-01-05 • Iterations: 1.1.1w (3x), 3.0.18 (3x), 3.1.8 (3x), 3.2.6 (3x), 3.3.5 (3x), 3.4.3 (3x), 3.5.4 (3x), 3.6.0 (3x)

🧠 Handshake Memory Consumption (RAM)

Memory consumption (RSS) of OpenSSL s_server during TLS handshakes. This measures the Resident Set Size (physical RAM used) during connection establishment for different OpenSSL versions. Lower is better.

Why This Matters: Memory consumption differences between 1.1.1w and 3.x versions were raised as a concern. This data shows actual RAM impact during TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 handshakes.

Memory Comparison: TLS 1.3 vs TLS 1.2

Comparing memory consumption between TLS protocols. Shows how protocol version affects memory footprint.
